What is the horn manure preparation 500?

The horn manure preparation 500 is – like the horn silica preparation 501 – a biodynamic field spray preparation.

Horn manure is the basis for organic plant growth because it creates a more intimate connection between soil and plant – the plant finds its way in the soil more easily. This intimate connection between soil and plant is necessary for sustainable and healthy plant growth. It promotes the uptake of nutrients through the roots and strengthens the formation of new roots.

How is the horn manure preparation 500 applied?

As a field spray preparation, the horn manure preparation 500 is dynamised, i.e. stirred in water, for one hour before use.

Quantities: 100g per hectare in 25 - 35 litres of water

How is the preparation stirred?

Put the preparation into a wooden or stoneware pot filled with (rain)water, ideally cylindrical – metal is fine too (we would advise against plastic).

Depending on the size of your area, use roughly the amount of water your sprayer can hold. The finer the spray it produces, the larger the area you can cover. For smaller areas, it is advisable to add a little more preparation to the water. When stirring, make sure you complete the full 60 minutes without interruption. Use a wooden stick for smaller quantities or a stirring broom for larger quantities and stir quite quickly in one direction until a deep funnel (vortex) forms. Then stop abruptly and reverse the direction of stirring so that the water bubbles vigorously. Continue like this for the entire 60 minutes.

How is the horn manure preparation 500 applied to the land?

The stirred horn manure preparation can simply be sprayed directly onto the soil in large drops.

On small areas, a brush, for example, is suitable for applying horn manure; it is used to sprinkle the preparation.

To apply the preparation more efficiently, or for large areas in a market garden or in agriculture, we recommend one of our preparation sprayers.

When is the ideal time of year for application?

The horn manure preparation 500 is ideally applied during tillage, i.e. before or during seedbed preparation, in spring and in autumn.

For winter cereals, spraying can take place from the start of the growing season in spring.

On grassland, it is sprayed before growth begins in spring and directly after each cut.

What is the ideal time of day for application?

The horn manure preparation 500 is applied from the afternoon into the evening. It is advisable to choose cloudy or slightly rainy days.

How is the horn manure preparation 500 stored?

The horn manure preparation 500 should be stored cool and frost-free, ideally in a stoneware pot. Wooden or glass containers are also suitable. The container should be embedded all round in coconut fibre.
