Groh & McFadden – Höfe der Zukunft (in German)

Höfe der Zukunft is the German title of the classic by Trauger Groh and Steven McFadden with which they made the idea of community-supported agriculture known in North America. For some years now, it has also been spreading in Germany as Solidarische Landwirtschaft (solidarity farming): this is when customers become co-entrepreneurs who pre-finance the farmer's harvest and in return receive all the produce of the farm. This idea of community-supported agriculture offers and demands new approaches to the social organisation of the farm, up to and including doing away with product prices. The first book is now available here in German, translated and expanded. It offers experience from 25 years of CSA – solidarity farming in the USA and Germany: idea and concept, context, regional networking, examples and variants. At the same time, it shows the conditions for success and above all the diverse potential of agricultural production organised in this way. With a contribution by Wolfgang Stränz (Buschberghof) on first steps and an essay by Marcia R. Ostrom on coalitions.
